2022.03.16Graduation Trip・A Walk in Asakusa
On Feb. 25, we had a sightseen tour as the graduation trip.
It was fine, sunny and great day for sightseeing, though it is usually still cold in Tokyo this season.
➀Senso-ji Temple
First, we went to Senso-ji, which is the most important place in Asakusa, and the oldest temple in Tokyo as well.
We tried ‘Omikuji’(fortune slip)there.
People consult fortunes by Japanese omikuji. The oracles are ‘Dai-kichi, Kichi, Chu-kichi, Shou-kichi, Kyo’ , which mean ‘Great good fortune, Good fortune, Moderately Good Fortune, Limited Good Fortune, Misfortune’ in order. The student who got Dai-kichi was in a great joy!
Showing the comments in the slip to each other, we talked about how we would spend this year.
②Making Wagashi Experience
Next, we tried to make wagashi; Japanese sweets. Rolling anko (sweet beans), making patterns on it with special tools…it was more difficult than we had expected, yet we really enjoyed the work!
③Lunch
We had Japanese dishes for lunch.
At the restaurant, they recommended Anago-don (conger eel on rice), so most of us tried it. After eating Anago-don or sushi, we had a short break.
④Indigo Dyeing Experience
Finally, we joined to indigo dye experience.
We dyed a handkerchief, chanting a charm to dye well. As we had to grab and squeeze it again and again for a long time with just one hand to dye, we all got tired. But after all, we were very happy to have our original handkerchief.
We could make a very good memory to cultivate friendship more, feel a downtown atmosphere of Asakusa and Japanese traditional culture by walking over there before graduation.
